Beech Grove firefighters warn of high winds and fire danger after truck hits fallen tree

A driver escaped injury Monday evening after their truck struck a fallen tree blocking FM 777 amid gusty winds and heightened wildfire danger, according to the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department.

At about 7:08 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 13,000 block of FM 777 for a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a tree that had fallen across the roadway. When units arrived, they found a newer model Ford truck that had collided with a hardwood tree in a curve.

โ€œThe driver was the sole occupant of the truck and was not injured,โ€ the department said in a Facebook post. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut up the tree and clear it from around the vehicle. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Jasper County Sheriffโ€™s Office investigated the crash.
