A driver escaped injury Monday evening after their truck struck a fallen tree blocking FM 777 amid gusty winds and heightened wildfire danger, according to the Beech Grove Volunteer Fire Department.
At about 7:08 p.m., firefighters were dispatched to the 13,000 block of FM 777 for a report of a single-vehicle crash involving a tree that had fallen across the roadway. When units arrived, they found a newer model Ford truck that had collided with a hardwood tree in a curve.
โThe driver was the sole occupant of the truck and was not injured,โ the department said in a Facebook post. Firefighters used chainsaws to cut up the tree and clear it from around the vehicle. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Jasper County Sheriffโs Office investigated the crash.
