At least 12 units evacuated in Beaumont apartment fire

PHOTOS: Beaumont Fire & Rescue is investigating an overnight fire at Tracewood II Apartments that forced the evacuation of at least 12 units. The fire broke out around 4 a.m. Saturday morning in the 4900 block of Concord Road, according to fire officials.

“We arrived to find a second story apartment at the end of the building in the very back of the complex,” said Beaumont Fire & Rescue Deputy Chief Christiaan Bordelon. “The apartment was fully involved, so what we did was one crew made a fast attack where they pulled a hose line into the apartment to knock down the fire as fast as they could and to search for any victims.”

Deputy Chief Bordelon says fire crews were able to contain the fire to one apartment. “Most apartment fires, you know, it’s a lot of people living in the same building, and older buildings like that, sometimes the fire can spread quickly,” he said.

“Our guys did a great job of putting it out really fast and confining the fire to just the apartment that was on fire, the downstairs. The apartment had a little bit of water damage. Everybody else had a little bit of smoke.”
