VIDEO: Amarillo Fire Department officials have confirmed that the person who was in critical condition after a fire on Albert Avenue, has now died. Officials say at the motherโs request, AFD is not going to release her name. Three pets also died in the fire. The Amarillo Fire Department responded to a reported residential structure fire at 5316 Albert Avenue.
Upon arrival, fire crews reported heavy fire and smoke showing from the front side of a single-story, residential structure. AFD says crews deployed hose lines and initiated fire attack operations while conducting search and rescue efforts after receiving information that a possible victim was inside the home.
Firefighters entered the structure, encountered heavy fire conditions in the attic area, and located one person in the front middle bedroom. Officials say the victim was removed from the structure and transferred to medical personnel on scene, where advanced life support care was initiated.
