VIDEO: 61 people, including 25 children, are getting assistance from the American Red Cross after an apartment complex caught fire in northwest Lubbock. Around 4 a.m. Sunday morning, Lubbock Fire Rescue was notified of smoke coming from the roof of one of the units at the Stratford Place Apartments on 4th Street. Fire crews arrived and saw imminent signs of a roof collapse. LFR says the fire spread quickly due to a shared attic space and a second alarm was ordered. All units were directed to evacuate and transition to defensive strategy. The roof collapsed during these efforts and air conditioning units fell through. One firefighter was injured and taken to UMC, where he was treated and released.
