2 hospitalized in McAllen apartment fire, officials say

PHOTOS: Two people were hospitalized after an apartment complex caught fire overnight, according to the McAllen Fire Department. At approximately 12:21 a.m., McAllen firefighters received a call about an apartment on fire on the 1300 block of South 6th Street.

At the scene, firefighters encountered a heavy fire coming from an apartment on the first floor. While the rest of the team was evacuating the apartments, crews were extinguishing the fire, officials said.

Two people were taken to the hospital for medical evaluation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
