VIDEOS/PHOTOS: A Leander ISD school bus carrying 42 students from Bagdad Elementary School overturned near the Sandy Creek area Monday afternoon, injuring 15 students and the driver and prompting a big emergency response on the district’s first day of school.
The crash occurred in the 22300 block of Nameless Road north of Honey Comb Lane at 3:15 p.m., according to Austin-Travis County EMS and Texas DPS. The preliminary investigation finds the bus was traveling south on a slight curve along Nameless Road when it left the roadway and rolled onto its side. The incident occurred shortly after the end of the school day, before any students had been dropped off. Texas DPS says that it is unclear if the rainy weather was a factor in the cause of the crash.
