A trailer fire sparked a forest fire near McLemore Lane in Maynardville Monday, the Northeast Union Volunteer Fire Department said. The fire completely destroyed a single-wide trailer, the department said.
At 11:10 p.m., the Maynardville Fire Department announced the fire was contained. It said the Tennessee Department of Forestry was conducting back burns, allowing the blaze to burn itself out.
Crews from Claiborne and Knox Counties also helped fight the fire, MFD said. It thanked them for their help. It also shared a photo of the back burns closing in on the original blaze.
