Ribbon cut on new fire station in Blount County

VIDEO/PHOTOS: The Blount County Fire Protection District held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday for its newest fire station. Station 10 is located at 3402 Montvale Road and will be staffed 24 hours per day. The property was acquired in early 2024 and officials say it will help improve response times as the Blount County population continues to grow. “We’ve had a long-range plan in place to get a station out here for many years and finally, several months ago, we were able to make everything work,” said Fire Chief Doug McClanahan. Blount County’s population in the 2020 U.S. Census was over 135,000, an increase of over 12,000 from the 2010 Census.
