One dead in Sevier County house fire, officials say

VIDEO: Officials in Sevier County have confirmed that one person died in a house fire on Sugar Loaf Road.

Fire crews with Waldens Creek Fire Department, alongside Sevier County Fire and Rescue, Seymour Fire Department and Pigeon Forge Fire and Rescue, were called to a house fire just after 3:00 a.m. Monday in the 1200 block of Sugar Loaf Road in the Waldens Creek area of Sevier County.

When firefighters arrived, a release from the Waldens Creek Fire Department said, they found the house with fire and smoke coming from the bedroom of the home.

A neighbor reported to fire crews that a person was still inside the home, firefighters entered and found the person and removed them from the home, officials said. They were transported by Sevier County Ambulance Service to a nearby hospital, officials said.

The Waldens Creek Fire Department said the home was damaged, with the fire mostly confined to a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and no other injuries were reported.
