One dead in Fentress County house fire

VIDEO: One person died Thursday in a Clarkrange house fire, officials in Fentress County announced. Emergency crews responded to reports of a residential fire with someone possibly trapped inside at 1659 Shaver Road just after 5 a.m. on Thursday.

The home was found engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived. One person was killed in the blaze. A joint release from the Fentress County Fire Department and Fentress County Sheriffโ€™s Office said their identity is being withheld until next of kin is notified.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Fentress County Sheriffโ€™s Office are investigating the cause of the fire.

โ€œThis is a heartbreaking reminder of how quickly fire can spread and how devastating it can be,โ€ said Fire Chief Larry Cooper. โ€œPlease check your smoke alarms, make an escape plan, and talk with your family about what to do in case of fire. Preparation saves lives.โ€
