Maury County Fire Crews, State Forestry Contain Several-Acre Brush Fire

Fire crews and Tennessee Division of Forestry personnel have contained a brush fire in Maury County on Friday evening. The Maury County Fire Department said crews were in the 3700 block of Chesnut Ridge Road near Skelley Road for a brush fire. โ€œMCFD responded initially with 3 brush trucks and 2 engines. Members hiked in on foot and suppressed the fire line with hand tools and Indian Packs (Indian Packs are backpacks full of water with a sprayer) before turning the scene over to state forestry,โ€ MCFD said.

MCFD said the fire had likely been burning, undetected, for most of the day. Officials said the blaze is contained, but crews remained in the area to cut a fire line around the area due to numerous trees and deadfall burning inside and near the line.

โ€œExpect smoke to linger in the area for the next couple of days. The fire will be monitored by State Forestry,โ€ MCFD said.
