Madison County Fire Department awarded $330,000 federal grant to enhance EMS capabilities

The Madison County Fire Department (MCFD) is proud to announce the receipt of approximately $330,000 in federal funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. This significant grant will directly support the advanced medical training of several firefighter/AEMTs by covering paramedic school tuition, textbooks, and associated backfill costs to ensure continued service while personnel attend school.

This funding marks a critical investment in both the department and the broader Madison County community. By equipping our firefighter/AEMTs with advanced paramedic-level training, MCFD will be better prepared to address complex medical emergencies and more effectively support MedCenter EMS, our county’s emergency medical transport provider.

“This is a huge win not just for our department, but for every resident of Madison County,” said Eric Turner, Fire Chief of MCFD. “These funds allow us to grow our internal capabilities, reduce response times, and improve patient outcomes by ensuring our firefighters are among the best-trained in the region.”
