Madison County Fire Department awarded $330,000 federal grant to enhance EMS capabilities

The Madison County Fire Department (MCFD) is proud to announce the receipt of approximately $330,000 in federal funding from the Department of Homeland Securityโ€™s Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) Program. This significant grant will directly support the advanced medical training of several firefighter/AEMTs by covering paramedic school tuition, textbooks, and associated backfill costs to ensure continued service while personnel attend school.

This funding marks a critical investment in both the department and the broader Madison County community. By equipping our firefighter/AEMTs with advanced paramedic-level training, MCFD will be better prepared to address complex medical emergencies and more effectively support MedCenter EMS, our countyโ€™s emergency medical transport provider.

โ€œThis is a huge win not just for our department, but for every resident of Madison County,โ€ said Eric Turner, Fire Chief of MCFD. โ€œThese funds allow us to grow our internal capabilities, reduce response times, and improve patient outcomes by ensuring our firefighters are among the best-trained in the region.โ€
