A late-night fire severely damaged a laundromat on Cedar Bluff Road in West Knox County Thursday, sending two firefighters to the hospital and prompting an arson investigation. According to Rural Metro Fire, crews were dispatched around 7:30 p.m. to the 400 block of North Cedar Bluff Road, where heavy flames were reported at the Coin Laundry and Services building.
Firefighters encountered fire spreading rapidly from the front of the business into the roof. Crews worked to suppress the flames from both inside and outside the structure while protecting neighboring businesses.
Officials said nearby stores suffered smoke and water damage, but the laundromat itself sustained the heaviest destruction. Two firefighters were injured during the response and transported for treatment with what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries. All business occupants were safely evacuated before fire crews arrived, according to officials.
