Knoxville firefighters respond to fire at small church

PHOTOS: Knoxville Fire Department responded to a fire at a small church near the West View neighborhood Saturday morning. The fire department reported that firefighters responded to the scene of the fire in the 2100 block of Dayton Street at approximately 11:35 a.m. When they arrived, the firefighters saw smoke coming from the eves of the church.

Photos at the scene show firefighters entering the front door of the church as smoke billows out. Crews were able to extinguish most of the fire, which was deemed under control by 11:45 a.m.

According to the fire department, no one was injured in the fire. KFD added that the church did not seem to be in use at the time of the fire. The church suffered some fire damage, as well as significant water and smoke damage.

Knoxville Fire Department investigators are actively working to determine what caused the fire.
