First responders rescue trapped person from overturned car after crash in Dunlap

PHOTOS: Dunlap firefighters rescued one seriously injured person from a car that flipped over on Hwy 127 near Rabbit Farm Road Saturday morning. Two people were in the car during the crash, but one was able to escape after it flipped over in the ditch down a 35-foot embankment.

The Dunlap Fire Department said that person flagged down a passing driver, who was able to contact emergency personnel. Firefighters, with the help of Dunlap Police officers, used the ‘Jaws of Life’ to extricate the victim and utilized a rope system to bring them up the embankment. The Sequatchie County Rescue Squad temporarily closed the road during the rescue and vehicle recovery. EMS transported the trapped person to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
