Watertown Fire Rescue Responds to Kitchen Fire

On Sunday, September 21st, just before 10:00pm, Watertown Fire Rescue responded to the report of a kitchen fire in the 1500 block of 7th Avenue NE. Watertown Fire Rescue responded with Engine 4, Engine 3, Medic 5, and Battalion 1.

Once on scene it was reported that an occupant of the residence had extinguished the flames, but there was still a significant amount of smoke in the house. Firefighters entered the residence and found that the fire had been successfully extinguished, and that it had been contained to the kitchen area. There was indeed extensive smoke throughout all levels of the home at this time. Positive pressure ventilation was initiated using electric fans, and crews began searching for any possible fire extension into adjacent rooms and the attic area. No extension was noted and once all smoke had been cleared the property was turned back over to the homeowners.

Watertown Fire Rescue was assisted on scene by the Watertown Police Department. One occupant of the residence was transported to Prairie Lakes Hospital for possible smoke inhalation and heat exposure. Watertown Fire Rescue was on the scene for just short of an hour.
