VIDEO: Black Hills Badges for Hope brought at-risk kids together with first responders at Rapid City’s south side Walmart Wednesday night for a Christmas present shopping spree. “Tonight they’re doing 43 kids, and I think, total, they do it over this week, over 200 kids will be taken shopping,” Volunteer Preston Arity said.
The annual event pairs kids with law enforcement officers, firefighters, and EMTs to find toys for the holidays. The program is in its seventh year and has supported more than 1,200 kids.
