Belle Fourche Volunteer Fire Department hosts annual pancake feed

VIDEO: The Belle Fourche Volunteer Fire Department celebrated the end of National Fire Prevention Week Sunday by hosting a free breakfast for community members. Firefighters cooked up hundreds of pancakes throughout the day. โ€œWe do this every year,โ€ Assistant Fire Chief Theodore Jeitz said. โ€œWe bring about 350 people in for the pancake feed a year just to help the community out, tell them thank you for helping us out.โ€

After fighting a landfill fire in March, Jeitz said the team enjoyed a relatively quiet year with few major fires to address. Still, the firefighters train consistently in case they are called upon in a disastrous situation. The pancake feed takes place each year on the Sunday following National Fire Prevention Week.
