Urban flash flooding prompts relocation for staff at EMS headquarters in Gaffney

Urban flash flooding has caused major issues in Gaffney, South Carolina. On Friday evening, severe weather impacted Gaffney, bringing two inches of rain within an hour, according to Meteorologist Chris Justus. The Gaffney EMS headquarters sustained roof damage and significant water intrusion. According to Cherokee County Emergency Management Division, the damage forced staff at the headquarters to relocate to the emergency operations center until further notice. The first floor and truck bays of the Gaffney Fire Department on Limestone Street are also flooded. Officials said ambulance services in the county will not be affected by the damage to the facility.
