A fire in Newberry County took the lives of two people on Friday morning.
According to county officials, multiple Newberry County fire stations responded to a structure fire on Windsong Hill Drive early Friday morning at around 6:30 a.m.
Officials confirmed multiple fire departments from across Newberry County were immediately dispatched.
Firefighters found the home around 80% enveloped in fire, advancing significantly and making rescue operations impossible after arrival.
Government officials said the fire was brought under control within minutes of arrival.
After the fire was extinguished, two individuals were found dead inside the home. Two other residents of the home were not present at the time of the fire and were unharmed. Officials confirmed there were no injuries to fire personnel.
Newberry County Coroner Laura Kneece identified the victims as 44-year-old April Nicole Sutton Long and 73-year-old Leroy Seegers, both of Silverstreet.
