VIDEO: Goose Creek officials broke ground on Monday morning on a new fire station in the Carnes Crossroads area. Officials say that departments in the area see a 15% increase in calls every year, and this new fire station would help meet response times, even allowing crews to get to most areas served in under three minutes. โIn emergency services, seconds and minutes can mean lives, and so for us to put a station here thatโs going to be able to reach much of the surrounding area, in minutes less than we could do before, thatโs the significant part,โ Goose Creek Mayor Greg Habib says. The new fire station will be an important addition to the area as Goose Creek is rapidly growing, and access to first responders wasnโt keeping up with the growth. The station is expected to take about a year to build and will begin operations by early next year.
