PHOTOS: Logging equipment sparked a Sunday afternoon fire in a wooded area of Colleton County.
Crews with Colleton County Fire Rescue responded to a โskidder fireโ just after 4:30 p.m. off Sidneys Road; however, they were unable to access the piece of logging equipment, which was about a half mile into the woods.
Officials said the skidder was being used when the fire started.
Additional equipment, including two brush trucks, were brought in to help crews reach and extinguish the flames.
โEngine 19 requested two brush trucks to assist with the fire. Brush 27 and Brush 36 responded but the units were unable to extinguish the fire with only small booster lines. They then requested ARFF 19 who responded. With its off-road capabilities, the ARFF was able to drive through the wooded area and reach the burning equipment,โ officials said.
