Injuries reported in Anderson apartment fire

VIDEO: Two people were injured in an apartment fire early Monday morning in Anderson. Shortly after midnight, the Anderson Fire Department was dispatched to a fire at The Oaks at Anderson on Concord Avenue. โ€œOur first engine did go on scene, saw smoke and were told possible entrapment from our dispatch,โ€ said Battalion Chief Jamie Parnell. Firefighters said smoke alarms were present in the building and did activate to alert occupants of the fire. Crews searched the apartment while extinguishing the fire. Investigators reported that a woman was taken out of the building unresponsive. She was flown to the JM Still Burn Center in Augusta, GA, for her injuries. Her condition remains unknown at this time. Another individual was also treated on the scene for minor injuries. โ€œThe fire was caused by a stove accidentally. It had items sitting on top of the stove that caught fire and smoked up the house. Luckily, a neighbor actually heard the fire alarm going off in the apartment and was able to call us and try to wake the neighbor up. The smoke detector really helped save this ladyโ€™s life at the time,โ€ said Parnell.
