Fire causes West Columbia deli to close until further notice

A recent fire has caused a deli in West Columbia to close its doors. The West Columbia Fire Department said it and the Lexington County Fire Service responded to a blaze on 1117 Augusta Street just after midnight on Tuesday.

Officials said firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the middle business of a strip mall at the address. Crews were later able to contain the fire primarily to that business, with the unit sustaining heavy damage. Two other businesses were also moderately damaged by smoke and water.

The middle business is June Mariโ€™s Deli, which said on Facebook on Tuesday that it is closed until further notice due to โ€œunforeseen incidents.โ€ Officials said the fire was brought under control within 30 minutes, and no injuries were reported.
