Family displaced, firefighter hospitalized after fire in Anderson County

A firefighter was sent to the hospital and a family of three was displaced following a reported fire Sunday in Anderson County. The West Pelzer Fire Department responded to the home fire on Smith Street in Pelzer. Upon arrival, firefighters worked immediately to attack the fire. One firefighter was taken to the hospital for heat exhaustion, according to officials. No other injuries were reported. Red Cross South Carolina confirmed with 7NEWS that they are assisting the family who resided at the residence for immediate needs such as food, clothing and shelter. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The incident remains under investigation by the Anderson County Fire Department.
