Flames swept through and destroyed a car mechanic shop just before 11 p.m. Sunday on Highway 57 South in the Floydale community of Dillon County, according to Dillon County Emergency Services Director Daniel Moody. Moody said it’s not clear what sparked the fire at this time. Several community members said the car repair shop has been around for more than 20 years. He added about 25 firefighters with the Floydale Fire and Dillon County Fire Departments Two and Three worked to get the flames contained and under control. The Dillon County Sheriff’s Office is helping in the investigation.
