Berkeley County has appointed a fire services manager to serve in the newly created position.
Ben Waring is a Summerville native who holds over 25 years of experience in the fire service industry.
As the new fire services manager, Waring will work with the county and its municipal fire departments to strengthen fire services in the area.
Most recently, Waring was the fire chief of Pine Ridge Fire Rescue, where he began as a volunteer in 1997.
โIโm honored to join Berkeley County Government and build on my decades of fire service experience in a new and impactful role, continuing to serve the communities Iโm familiar with and alongside the local fire agencies who keep our County safe,โ Waring said.
Throughout his career, Waring helped oversee the formation of the South Berkeley Fire District in September 2025, a merger of Pine Ridge and the Goose Creek Rural Fire Department.
Additionally, Waring serves as vice chair of the Berkeley County Fire Chiefs Association, is a member of the SC Fire Chiefs Association, and is a member and Trustee of the SC Firefighters Association.
