Charleston County approves first round of funding for $80M EMS Headquarters

VIDEO: With the goal of putting all Emergency Medical Services training and expertise under one roof, the Charleston County Finance Committee has approved a portion of an $80 million project so they can have a new EMS headquarters. โ€œThis facility isnโ€™t being built for today,โ€ Charleston County EMS Division Chief Carl Fehr said. โ€œItโ€™s being built for the future.โ€ Charleston County EMS logistics, training, administration and more are currently spread across the entire county from Ladson to McClellanville. But this proposed facility can help change day-to-day operations. โ€œItโ€™s going to be consolidated to this facility and some other smaller hubs to make sure that weโ€™re getting those resources out to the county,โ€ Fehr said. This is considered Charleston Countyโ€™s Phase Four of a set of projects being built on Azalea Drive in North Charleston as part of their five-year capital improvement plan.
