An apartment building in the Windsor Hill community was damaged in a Monday afternoon fire. Crews with the North Charleston Fire Department responded to a structure fire at the Windsor Hill Apartments just before 2 p.m. It was brought under control around 2:40 p.m. One of the buildings at the complex suffered significant damage. A large portion of the roof appeared to have collapsed in the fire. Officials believe the fire began on the balcony of the second story when a resident was cooking. Those flames spread into other units, and eight families were displaced. No one was injured. The American Red Cross is assisting the displaced.
