A deadly house fire on Monday morning is under investigation, according to Dillon County Coroner Donnie Grimsley. Grimsley said one person has died in the fire on Highway 501 in Latta. Community members said it appeared that there were at least a dozen firefighters and law enforcement officers on the scene. Dillon County Fire Station 2 responded to the blaze, according to Dillon County Emergency Services Director Daniel Moody. Moody said the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office and the South Carolina State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating what caused the fire. State Law Enforcement Division (SLED) are helping in the investigation. Grimsley said at this time he’s not able to release any additional information.
