A car crashed into a home in Providence causing a fire Thursday night. Police and firefighters responded to Buffalo Court at 7 p.m. for a car that crashed into a home.
Officers said preliminary investigation indicates the truck was traveling on Avon Street when it struck the side of the home.
The crash caused a fire to both the home and the truck. Police said the driver was able to exit the truck. They did not suffer any significant injuries.
Officers said the homeowner was not injured. On Thursday, NBC 10 spoke with Luis Rios of Providence who said he watched as the truck came flying down the road by his house.
โI see a car coming by he was coming real quick,โ said Rios. โSeemed like he wasnโt stopping, and he crashed into the gate.โ
He said he then saw the driver exit the truck and walk away from the house. Rios said the driver was stumbling and appeared to be sick.
โOnce he hit the gate it sounded like a real hard impact,โ said Rios. โIt happened so quick I had to move out of the way, I wasnโt trying to get myself injured.โ
Providence Fire Deputy Assistant Chief Robert Butler told NBC 10 that Red Cross is assisting the two people who lived in the home and that their house is not a total loss. Police said the driver was transported to the hospital. The crash is under investigation.
