Fire breaks out at Woonsocket church rectory

Crews extinguished a fire that broke out Tuesday morning at Precious Blood Parish in Woonsocket. Firefighters responded to the scene on Carrington Avenue around 7:45 a.m.

Father Michael Kelley said the fire started in the basement and the four people living there got out safely.

The rectory sustained mostly smoke damage, according to Fr. Kelley, and it’s unclear when the building will be usable again.

All services will continue as normal since the church was not damaged, Fr. Kelley said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
