Cranston crews knocked down a fire at an abandoned home on the corner of Parkway Avenue and Woodbury Road on Thursday morning. Assistant Fire Chief James Woyciechowski told a 12 News photojournalist at the scene that there was a hole in the roof of the home, but Woyciechowski believes the hole was caused by rotting and weather. Firefighters had some difficulty tackling the flames as the house was boarded up, and there were hoarding conditions inside the home. Even though the home was seemingly abandoned, the power was still turned on. While the cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, Woyciechowski thinks it’s possible that some rain could have reached an active outlet and sparked the flames.
