Two people died after a house fire in York County Sunday morning. The York County Coroner’s Office said a 54-year-old man and 41-year-old woman were taken to WellSpan York Hospital after a fire on North Main Street in Stewartstown around 6 a.m. Saturday. The Eureka Volunteer Fire Department said they found significant fire in the building when they arrived and they found the two victims unconscious inside. They were quickly rescued and life-saving measures were attempted. The coroner’s office said the man and woman were pronounced dead at the hospital at 7:12 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. respectively. Next of kin has been notified, the coroner’s office said. One firefighter was also injured in the firefight. Authorities said they fell through a hole in the second floor. Stewartstown Community Fire Chief Todd Bigney tells abc27 News the building was originally built as a bank in 1905. It later housed the Stewartstown library and, eventually, became a home.
