VIDEO: A fire in South Fork left a house deemed as a total loss, according to the South Fork Fire Department Chief Christian Fyock. The fire started just before 2 a.m. Monday, April 7, on the 200 block of Highway Street. When crews arrived on scene, they noted that the house was already engulfed in flames and they pivoted to ensuring that everyone in the burning house as well as neighboring residents made it out safely.
Crews then began knocking down the fire, which Fyock said took almost three hours. Departments remained on scene until around 8 a.m. performing overhaul and working on hot spots. The house was noted to be a total loss, however, the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Fyock added that the house fire is now the worst fire the department has seen in 2025.
