VIDEO: For Emergency Medical Services week, FOX56 is highlighting an ambulance company that has been serving a Luzerne County community for nearly 50 years. Working in an urban area with a mix of residential and industrial properties, the Pittston Twp Ambulance responds to approximately 1200 to 1400 calls per year according to ambulance president Donald Hudzinski.
โAnything from the simple fall and canโt get up to cardiac events and major traumas. Weโve had them all,โ said Hudzinski. Two ambulances and a hybrid system of volunteers and paid members allow the company to respond to multiple calls at once, although Hudzinski says they remain understaffed due to a nationwide EMT shortage.
