PHOTOS: Fire crews were dispatched early Sunday morning to a residential structure fire in Middle Smithfield Township that left one person injured and caused significant damage to a home.
At approximately 7:17 a.m., emergency responders were called to the 1000 block of Alpine Drive in the Winona Lakes area for reports of a house fire with heavy smoke visible.
Upon arrival, Station 29 command units found a two-story, single-family home with heavy fire conditions on the second floor.
Firefighters quickly went to work to control the blaze. During the incident, one patient was located with first-degree burns and was transported by Bushkill EMS to a medical facility for evaluation. Officials said a family pet safely escaped the home before fire crews arrived.
The fire was brought under control with the assistance of multiple agencies. Units responding included 29 Command, Engine 2, Tanker 4, and Tanker 14, along with mutual aid from the Shawnee Fire Company, Bushkill Volunteer Fire Company, Stroudsburg Fire Department, Lehman Pike Emergency Medical Services, Bushkill EMS, and Pennsylvania State Police Stroudsburg.
