Massive fire spreads to silo, barn in Lebanon County, causing roof collapse

VIDEO/PHOTOS: A large fire erupted on a farm in Lebanon County on Friday morning, according to emergency dispatchers.

The blaze spread to a barn and a silo in the 300 block of Millardsville Road in Jackson Township. Heavy flames and smoke could be seen from miles away.

Crews were called to the fire at 5:51 a.m. Dispatch said the scene is in an “agricultural area,” prompting a significant amount of fire apparatus and tankers to bring water to the site.

According to Keystone Hook and Ladder Deputy Chief Mike Shaak, 25 tankers from Lebanon and Berks counties responded to the fire.

Dispatch said the roof of the barn collapsed due to the blaze. Chief Shaak said no animals were hurt during the fire, and they are all safe.

Roads were shut down in the area. Crews got the fire under control around 9:30 a.m. and cleared the scene at 10:30 a.m. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
