PHOTOS: Firefighters from several departments in Crawford County had their hands full Wednesday morning after a massive house fire broke out, causing part of the home to collapse. According to the Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Department, calls came in around 5:30 Wednesday morning for a porch fire at a home on West Vernon Road in Sadsbury Township that quickly spread to the rest of the house.
By the time first responders arrived, heavy flames were coming from the two-story house, prompting a call for more crews to assist with the blaze as smoke towered over the building. Summit Township Fire and Rescue said crews were able to work their way inside the house and knock down part of the fire before the call was given to evacuate the building due to a partial collapse and conditions deteriorating rapidly.
Crews were finally able to get the fire under control several hours later and were able to give the all clear. No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is still under investigation as of Wednesday evening. Crews from the North Shenango Fire Department, Linesville Volunteer Fire Department, Andover Volunteer Fire Department, Greenwood Fire & Rescue Department 40, Fallowfield Fire & Rescue Department 45 and Vernon Central Hose also assisted with the fire along with Conneaut Lake police.
