VIDEO/PHOTOS: A man was charged with arson after setting his Lancaster County house on fire, according to officials.
A home in the 500 block of Spring Hollow Drive in New Holland Borough went up in flames at 2:31 a.m. on Tuesday. Dozens of fire crews responded to put out the fire. The house was gutted by the blaze.
Photos from the scene show the aftermath of the damage caused to the home. According to police, 74-year-old Donald Stoner was charged with arson with danger of death or bodily injury, causing catastrophe and recklessly endangering another person.
According to court documents, Stoner bought approximately 10 gallons of gasoline on Monday, Sept. 1, and was seen pouring gasoline throughout his home. Investigators said Stoner indicated that he was going to set his home on fire. A warrant for his arrest was issued the same day.
Early Tuesday morning, officers attempted to serve the warrant when Stoner then set fire to his home, according to the documents.
