‘It was an inferno’: Fire tears through Montgomery County townhomes

VIDEO: Fire crews were working overnight in Trappe, Montgomery County after, officials said, a two-alarm fire tore through at least three townhouse properties early Sunday.

According to officials, the incident happened just after 2 a.m., when crews responded to a fire reported at townhomes along the 600 block of Muhlenberg Drive, in Trappe.

Here, at homes in the Heritage Park Condominiums, crews discovered flames pouring from at least three units, leaving two suffering extensive damages.

All three properties impacted have been rendered uninhabitable by the fire, officials said.

Residents in the area told NBC10’s Neil Fischer that they banged on doors along the block to make sure everyone who lived in the area impacted was able to wake up and get out of their homes before the fire spread to any other properties.

“It was an inferno,” said Nicolas Caville, who lives on the block. “The whole thing was up in flames. It was going twenty-feet higher than the house actually is.”
