VIDEO: Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department President David Braun spent most of his time at the fire department until he was diagnosed with kidney failure in 2019.
Braun has been on kidney dialysis since 2022, five days a week, six hours a day. He’s currently on a kidney donor list through Kidneys for Communities.
“They’re getting the word out and hopefully somebody will see this story about me and think ‘Oh, I can give a kidney’ and a live donor is the best, so we can find somebody that’s a match and donate a kidney, that would work out well for me,” said Braun.
Braun has dedicated 51 years of his life to first responder service, starting at a fire company near Pittsburgh in 1974, then joining the Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department when he moved to the area, and becoming a state instructor.
