VIDEO: A fundraiser in Wayne County helped firefighters pay for the gear they need to keep themselves and the community safe on Saturday.
The Hawley Fire Department has hosted a flea market about three times a year for the last 15 years. More than 50 vendors took part in the sale.
Angel Hanrahan of the Hawley Fire Department explains why this event is crucial to the fire department.
“Something like this is so important for the fire department, and it’s also important for the community. They love it, as you can probably see. The people love to come out and shop. The vendors love to set up tables and sell all their wares, and it’s a really good thing for the community and the fire department,” said Hanrahan.
Officials with the Hawley Fire Department say the flea market is the department’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
