Fire causes major damage at truck repair shop in Franklin County

A fire early Tuesday morning caused major damage to Antrim Fleet Services, a truck repair shop in Antrim Township, Franklin County.

Smoke from the fire was captured by a PennDOT camera along I-81. A passerby spotted the blaze around 3:45 a.m.

Rescue Hose Fire Chief Kevin Barnes said there were vehicles, equipment, and tools inside the shop on Buchanan Trail East.

Dozens of crews were at the scene, which is just east of Interstate 81 Exit 5, Route 16/Greencastle/Waynesboro.

A state police fire marshal will investigate because it will be such a large loss.

The chief said they don’t know how the fire started.

Firefighters were on the scene for about three hours, and there were no injuries.

A stretch of Buchanan Trail East/Route 16 was closed between Grindstone Hill Road and Long Lane for several hours. The road has since reopened.
