Exeter Township selects architectural firm to develop new fire station design

At Monday nightโ€™s meeting of the Exeter Township Board of Supervisors, township manager, William Heim, gave a project update on the new fire station. He reported that the committee formed to select the architectural firm that will be responsible for leading the design of the new fire station has tentatively chosen MW Studios based in Maryland. Heim pointed out that MW Studios has designed the city of Readingโ€™s newest fire station, Cumru Townshipโ€™s fire station that is currently under construction, the Swatara Township Public Safety Complex outside of Harrisburg, and the Mechanicsville fire department. Heim said an agreement for MW services is currently being negotiated and will be brought before the supervisors for final approval. Following that a public presentation will be scheduled. Depending on the costs, Heim noted, the funding will likely be a combination of grants received, wastewater proceeds and interest, donations, and bonds issuance.
