VIDEO: Itโs one of the biggest events of the year in one local community and the biggest fundraiser for the Covington Fire Company. The Firemanโs Picnic is now underway, and Tuesday kicked off with a crowd favorite. The carnival grounds opened at 6 with food stands, carnival rides, and a beer tent, drawing in families from around the area. Organizers say the week-long event raises nearly $50,000 in profit, money the fire company relies on to fund operations year-round. Tuesday night featured a car show with dozens of classic and custom vehicles. Volunteers say theyโll start planning next yearโs picnic as soon as this one ends, because the turnout keeps growing. โItโs a lot to get this set up, but the nights of the picnic, itโs worth it when you see the kids having a good time and the adults having a good time. Hopefully, the weather holds out and we get a good crowd,โ Fire Chief Brad Jones told 28/22 News.
