VIDEO/PHOTOS: Investigators looking into a fire at the home of Portland City Councilor Candace Avalos say there’s no evidence she was specifically targeted, and they didn’t find any use of accelerants or incendiary devices. The fire was reported at about 2:40 a.m. Sunday at Councilor Avalos’ home in the Mill Park neighborhood. Firefighters arrived to find several vehicles and a carport on fire. No one was hurt in the fire.
On Monday, investigators said they are still working to determine what caused the fire. However, initial findings show that the fire didn’t start in the councilor’s vehicle or her other property. “The fire began in a storage shed adjacent to the residence, and Councilor Avalos and other nearby residents were affected by the spread of the fire,” Portland Fire & Rescue said.
