Three kids safe in Medford thanks to neighbor after fire destroys garage

VIDEO/PHOTOS: Three kids are safe after a fire broke out in their home thanks to the quick actions of their neighbor. Medford firefighters responded to a call of a house fire in the 1300 Block of Sequoia Cir. around 3:45 p.m. Monday afternoon. Neighbors tell me they heard multiple pops before crews arrived. One neighbor also saw what they described as โ€œcolorful puffs of smokeโ€. Fire Chief Eric Thompson says they received multiple reports of โ€œexplosionsโ€ before they got there.

โ€œWe have to remember is [thereโ€™s] all kinds of things in the garage. We havenโ€™t found anything unusual at this point, but thatโ€™s very typical of fires in storage areas that we have that because you have flammable liquids and materials in there, sometimes thereโ€™s propane bottles. Thereโ€™s just a variety of different kinds of combustibles,โ€ Thompson said. Thompson says there were kids but no adults at home when the fire started. Thanks to one brave neighbor, the kids and a dog got out safe before crews arrived.
