VIDEO/PHOTOS: Spencer Tejedas was greeted by a seemingly endless line of co-workers and friends, all considered family, as he returned to the engine house on Monday. Tejedas, who suffered severe burns on nearly half of his body and lost most of his fingers while responding to a house fire last May, has spent months recovering. It took two and a half months before he was well enough to FaceTime his family, and he finally returned home in late September.
Tejedas expressed his happiness at being back with the people he loves and will now take on a new administrative role at the training academy, where he will mentor new recruits. “A lot of learning to do. For myself. But I get to carry that on with a good cadre of training staff here. Excited to bring on the future of Gresham and the new recruits, and forever recruits coming to Gresham,” he said.
