A recreational vehicle fire sparked a small wildfire in a remote area near Dutchy Way early Sunday morning, resulting in a multi-agency response, according to fire officials. Rural Metro Fire and the Oregon Department of Forestryโs Southwest Oregon District were first called to investigate a dark column of smoke rising from the woods. After navigating difficult terrain, crews located an RV fully engulfed in flames, with the fire having spread to approximately half an acre of nearby vegetation.
Due to the areaโs limited access, only smaller fire vehicles could approach the scene, and firefighters had to be shuttled in to contain the blaze. Additional support was provided by Grants Pass Fire and the Illinois Valley Fire District. An occupant at the site told officials they believed the fire began inside the RV. However, the exact cause remains under investigation. No injuries were reported. Officials emphasized that the remote location posed logistical challenges but said the fire was contained without further spread.
